Technically... it's a remake. But it is the most impressive and astounding remake I and many ever seen, just 6 years after the original. it was so impressive, is almost like a new game. Those graphics were crazy in 2002.

A bigger generational jump visually than PS2 to PS5 lol. It was unbelievably good looking (on a CRT) and well made, I played it in 2004~ and couldn't believe what I was looking at... constant but subtle shiver from beginning to end. The train section in RE Zero was also insane, but the game overall wasn't close to this level.

Easily the best remake and my favorite horror game of all time. It's a real shame that many unique sub-genres/styles like this had to die. Modern RE games including RE4 are nothing like the classics.
