And now the Tate brothers have been released from custody in Romania and are on their way to the United States, courtesy of the Trump administration. I remember someone on this board scoffing at me when I first posted that the administration was pressuring Romania to release them.

Ron DeSantis is pissed off that they might choose to settle in Florida, saying he hoped that Pam Bondi (who was formerly a Florida AG) and Kristi Noem would bar the Tates from entering the country. He was apparently unaware at the time that the Trump administration had pressured the Romanian government to release the Tates. Now he's consulting with his own legal team to find methods of barring the Tates from being in Florida, since he knows they're likely to show up at Mar-a-Lardo.

I think you are referring to me.  I didn't "scoff" but asked what I was missing in the article you linked. The headline did not match what was reported.  You / The Financial Times may very well be right though, the timing and result are pretty suspect but the Romanians are still being coy.

From a Forbes article:

What Do We Know About Trump Reportedly Pressuring Romania?

A Romanian court had previously refused to lift travel restrictions placed on the Tate brothers, calling such a request “unfounded.” So it is unclear what prompted the latest decision by authorities to ease those restrictions and allow the brothers to leave for the U.S. The move, however, comes just days after the Financial Times reported that the Trump administration was pressuring Romanian authorities to do the same. The report, which cited unnamed sources, noted that the issue was first raised by U.S. officials on a call with their Romanian counterparts and brought up again by Trump’s special envoy Richard Grenell at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month. In a post on X, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said the U.S. had not “made any requests” or “demands” regarding the “legal situation of well-known foreign influencers investigated by the Romanian authorities.” The country’s foreign minister Emil Hurezeanu confirmed having a discussion on the matter with Grenell, but told reporters that the conversation was “cordial” and he did not perceive it as an effort to pressure Romanian authorities.

Why bar them from Florida?  If I was DeSantis I'd extradite them to the U.K. Then the U.K. wouldn't have to wait on Romania to finish with them before getting their hands the brothers.
