Nah. Shin Megami Tensei and Digimon story games. Cyberseluth and Hackers Memory are especially good. The SMT series is always great. Well, Hackers 2 isn't great. More of you need to play SMTV-V and SMTIII Nocturne and the rest of the series, but the last two are excellent and easily accessible. Why I wasn't a big fan of it due to the pacing. A lot of people like Ni No Kuni. |
I like SMTV:V and SMTIII, but they only kind of, sort of, fill the Pokemon niche in that you're capturing monsters. They lack one of the key features that made Pokemon popular and keeps it popular, which is trading and battling with friends and family. They're more traditional RPGs with monster-capturing elements than true "mon" games. Dragon Quest Monsters does allow you to capture the familiar Toriyama monsters and it also has an online component, though it isn't nearly as lively as Pokemon. That may be okay with you, but most of the people who play Pokemon would like to interact with other people. The social aspect is pretty well baked into Pokemon.
