FF4: The After Years 3D+ on Apple Arcade (all chapters free).
I played the original 2D version on Wii, liked it then, like it now.
I will say this about mobile Square Enix games, I generally loved the Enix side, and often found the Squaresoft side to be more style over substance. Enix games were generally done in portrait with all the control UI at the bottom of the screen, away from the visual stuff. This one (like most squaresoft games) is done in landscape and has UI elements on screen - but thankfully there is an auto-battle option and tapping anywhere on the screen outside of the menu section will execute attack, making things a lot easier. So, I'll say this one's UI isn't as annoying as say.... Final Fantasy 6 mobile; but it's no Dragon Quest. This is an older game, as it originally came out on iOS about 12 years ago and uses the graphical style found in FF4 DS.
That said, apart from more streamlined RPGs (like early FF and Dragon Quest - I stay away from more complex games like FFT), I'll play a lot of games that have shorter play sessions. Something to do when I have 5 minutes - as I find it doesn't eat up time the way surfing message boards does (yes, my net lingo is stuck in 1995)...
...Holy shit, I've been online for like 30 years now!
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
