When they start discussing about where the game would fit in the timeline, they say the following:

As every Zelda-geek in the universe knows, Ocarina of Time ends in both Link's childhood and in te time when he is an adult, after he ahs slayed Ganon. The timleine splits, and looks like this:

There is no ''sizable gap'' between Majora's Mask and the Wind Waker. The two damn games aren't connected.
