To be clear they only discontinued recordable blu-rays, nothing is happening to the normal stuff yet. Saying that you totally contradicted what I said is pretty silly when I literally said Sony will absolutely deprioritize physical if they keep it and that I think it's a possibility they might forgo it all together. There's really not much disagreement here so I don't get the justification for that. For why I think it's more likely they'll keep it it's cause there will be a notable amount of backlash if they forgo it and it won't cost them much to offer it in a deprioritized way. Physical does still have a notable presence on Playstation so it'd kinda early but it'll very likely be gone for the PS7 since a decade from now physical should be tiny even on Playstation. |
All games/ films that get BD releases get recorded on BDs. Before a film is on BD its an empty (recordable disc). If a wheel company discontinues their rims production, they will most likley stop producing wheels as well. The PS7 will be digital only 100%. I even would be my head on that! PS5 technically has no DD as well! You need to buy it seperatly, yet Sony only produce it in limited quantities. But hardcore fans (George Orwell 1984****) buy it no matter what. I guess even if Xbox had physical and PS skipped it, there would still be some deluded people trying to excuse it. One thing is for sure: They won't stick with discs forever and many things going on now like the discontinuation of BD even make a physical DD for PS6 debatable.
