Merkel was a female at the top, for one, and he didn’t like that she couldn’t be intimidated by him. For another, I’m sure he wants Merz to align with AfD.
That’s actually a recurring theme with Trump. Women are more likely to stand up to that asshole than men. And when they do, he calls them “nasty” and other gendered insults.
