Perun looked at all the data, Russian as well as western, to see how many Russian have been recruited and how many casualties have there really been:

So basically Russia lost slightly over 1M soldiers, and the Russian data is actually higher than western estimates.

However, as some in the comments pointed out, he likely overcounted slightly due to splitting contracts and mobilized into 2 different groups which is not totally accurate, and the fact that some who got wounded  got another contract later on when he was healed enough or fit now the lowered standards again. Basically those overcounted are roughly equal to the losses of PMC, so around 1M by now killed and wounded is most likely the most proper answer.

Also Jesus, an obituary just 8 days after getting recruited? Did that person even got any training at all?
