India traditionally was using Russian equipment, but they started to divest from it slowly already before the invasion. Being fully dependent on Russian equipment deliveries is the main reason why India sides with Russia (or abstains) in some UN resolutions, they simply can't afford to lose their military supplier.

Western nations taking over as main suppliers of equipment to India would actually be a good thing as Russia couldn't coerce them anymore in protecting them in the UN.
