Is the Switch really more of a secondary system rather than a primary system?

Entirely depends on your own gaming habits. There is zero reason a Switch couldn't be your primary gaming device.

Having said that evidence would suggest in general more people use PlayStation as a primary gaming device considering PlayStation generates far more revenue per user than Nintendo. In the previous fiscal year Sony made over 2.2 Trillion Yen in just Software Revenue, Nintendo made 1.6 Trillion Yen revenue in that year with Hardware, Amiibo and Merchandise lumped in.

Far more money is being spent by PlayStation users on video games suggesting they are using it as their primary gaming device.
