Pre-orders inflate the real interest of a console.

Xbox Series X/S exited the gate strongly and has struggled in recent times.

Both systems started really well, but only the PS5 saw sucess. I guess part of te reason why also the Xbox was such a huge sucess at its launch was the fact that there where nearly no new announcements in 2020. Because of Covid everything was delayed or canceled, developers had to work in home office, so it made it more difficult to work. And then there where 2 brand new consoles. Of course people where ot in getting something new. Thats also part of the reason why slso the Xbox did really well at launch! But we know it did not last.
