If 3rd parties would put the same effort in their games and in the marketing as Nintendo does, I believe their games would sell much more.

Like they did on GC, N64, SNES and NES? Ok, SNES had streetfighter.

What third party games on the Gamecube and N64 were so fantastic and marketed so well that they should have had dramatically better sales? Now, I will repeat my question from earlier ... How many people who are (really) aware of the concept of publishers in the videogame industry are also not aware of when high quality games are released?

The fact of the matter is the vast majority of people know practically nothing about the industry, and it is unlikely that people are (on a large scale) looking for who published a game before they buy it.

On top of this, I do find it funny that people bring up Boom Blox as an example of a third party game that is selling poorly ... Worldwide it is selling at a pretty steady rate which is how games like MySims and SmartyPants have sold so many copies.

IF that post was meant to me, I have to tell you that I have no idea. Mostly because nintendo-gamers have very different idea of what is a "fantastic" title. Marketing? Do you really expect someone to remember which games were properly marketed many years ago? No, unless you are a diehard fan of some console. Vast majority of people who buys nintendo-games are familiar with the franchises, so they do know who published a game. ;) But I guess you have a valid point, since Mario&sonic has sold a lot. I bet a lot of people thought it was a nintendo game.

And sorry to say this, but it is not really surprising that games like mysims and smartypants sell on wii. That is just the way wii's demographics go.
