To be frank, Nintendo stated the 70$ games are going to be done on a game per game basis. Which I think will depend on the franchise worth and if the game budget was quite high to begin with. Don't know if Mario Kart would qualify for the latter criteria.

Isn't TOTK the only $70 Nintendo game so far? And perfectly understandable too tbh, the development cycle of that game was longer than even BOTW's.
