The reality, there are plenty of game awards with many on far older publications or boards - the AIAS/DICE Awards, for example, are industry determined awards from the game industry for the game industry, dating back to the 1990s where GE007 won, FF7 came in runner up, and winning other categories. The only way “THE Game Awards” could be more pretentious is adding more adjectives like “The Official Game Awards”. |
