The director of the game just basically said it is coming to more platforms this year.
We don't know the direct details of any contract and even if there were Square-Enix can likely just add a little new content, and tada, now it's technically Final Fantasy VII Remake: Definitive Edition, which is technically a new game and bound by no contract.
