I am a journalist and I can assure you that is not a problem. I'm working 365 days a year, 366 in a leap year, regardless of what happens or what doesn't happen. People want to get their news!

Although I am not working in games journalism, so maybe things are different there.

Yeah, I still think a console announcement is partly a PR move and making a bunch of folks leave their families or friends or whatever they happen to be doing on their day off isn’t the best way to make a first impression. You are a consummate professional, but half of the gaming press have a bit more whiny work ethic. Look at how bad they’ve been taking this while “no Switch 2 news in 2024.”
