Nintendo actually does seem to do better when it comes to new IPs compared to many of their competitors. For example during the Switch era, these are new Nintendo IPs:
Ring Fit Adventure, Arms, 1-2 Switch, as well as Astral Chain which is an IP Nintendo owns. Combined they sold over 20 million copies. I don't think many of their competitors launched new IPs that sold that much in the last 7 years or so.
Sure, their new IPs are very often casual leaning franchises, but still, sales count.
