PS2 was at 155,1 million as of march 31, 2012. Thats an ice cold FACT! not "more than", not "nearly" but 155,1 million. Thats what counts! Some days ago this number was changed to "over 160 million units". Not as of march 31, 2013 but march 31, 2012! An official number has been changed to be "prepared" if the Switch comes close.
For "lying": Nintendo has always been transparent with its numbers, Top or Flop. Heck they even provided WiiU numbers even if it was only 13,56 million. Sony is hiding Vita numbers till today. A console wichs last number was 155,1 million now all of a sudden is "over 160 million"? Does that mean they "lied" before? And 82,51 million PSPs (exactly 1 million above the GBA) who seriously believe that? Don't you think that if the PSP actually really outsold the GBA, Sony would have told us in 2014? If would have been the sensation of the year. The first non Nintendo handheld outselling a Game Boy. But now "announce" (lienounce) such news in a standard twitter podcast?
What if MS came out now and showed us an Xbox 360 with 89,725,737 million units written on it. Would you buy that? Or a Nintendo DS with 164,395,394 million units? Would you buy that? I wouldn't. I am by far not the only one doubting that numbers.
Also consoles for displays are included on these numbers. Because they have also be MANUFACTURED, like it or not so they are included. They are not written off. And a console that was used as a display has never been sold. So this number includes them.
