I find it interesting I couldn't post in this thread without being dogpiled by a dozen people ensuring me I don't know what I'm talking.  They sure are quiet this morning and I hear nothing but crickets.

I immediately thought of this recent video after reading your posts. What can happen when politics and intelligence/education/IQ collide?

They don't matter in any kind of broader sense. If you think that is some kind of gotcha, then I think you had a very poor scientific/mathematic education; because this is basic stuff.

There's a reason why studies get repeated. There's a reason why studies require large sample sizes. There's a reason why people often do double blind studies. There's a reason why randomness is important for polling. There's a million different things that get done to remove errors and different biases.

Random one-off incidents that have 100 different possible causes, are not even worth talking about without more information.

It's legitimately terrifying to me that neither of you two seem to understand how difficult it is to get to the truth of different matters.

Oh ok, you did find something worse than everything put forth so far. On the rankings of arguments we have:

1. Studies and stats

2. Anecdotal evidence

3. Vaguely gesturing at something and then a meme.

Political bias is a hell of a drug.

jesus fucking christ could we try just responding like a coherent adult?

Here I'll start:

I think that one's views of large scale reality should be based on large scale data. I shouldn't base my view of the American economy on the gas price at my local station but rather larger scale information. Just like I shouldn't decide that illegal immigrants are all violent criminals if I get mugged by one one day or any other thing from a random single event because that's not a good way to arrive at the truth. I take issue with Legit's post because it seems as though he's basing his view of facebook's bias off a single event that he has no way of knowing was even a direct choice of facebook let alone why they did that. On the other hand we have actual studies of the overall policy and their effects on political content and it seems that right wing content gets a boost. In this case I think that the studies are much more likely to be true than Legit's understanding based off not getting an invite for a birthday party.

Now you go, how do you disagree with that above?
