What happened? Maybe Kojima didn't want it to make a live service game (although it has online features). So Sony thought it would be worthless for them.

Anyways, I may take that 50%, Death Stranding seems weird and different, I probably should play it at least once.

It's releasing pretty much exactly 5 years after the PS4 version. I'm guessing that in the original deal that Kojima signed with Sony, Sony got 5 years timed exclusivity while Kojima got Sony development assistance and access to Sony's 1st party only Decima engine.
