From those saying that the issue is that Democrats are not connecting with Middle America, what I want to know is how could they? Because as far as I can tell the way Trump did it is to lie and that's not really what I want Democrats to do. Should they also tell Middle America that they'll solve all of their economic woes by funding the government through tariffs while ignoring the inflationary aspect of tariffs? Or that the issue of immigration is as simple as building a wall and ignoring the complications of the asylum seeking process.

I understand that politics is about winning in order to enact the changes you want to see, but I'm not sure that I can agree with blatantly lying and ignoring reality in order to get there. So far the only suggestion I've seen is to tell people that are complaining that eggs cost more than they did 4 years ago that the GDP is up and inflation is where the FED targets it. It just doesn't seem like a tenable solution to me.

Kamala lied and I'd say in a more scummy way than trump. She ran ads in different states with different promises that contradicted the ads ran in other states. Ones where she'd say she funding for Isreal and then in a Jewish population say she believes Isreal has the right to defend itself and support would be given.

Trump doesn't know what he's saying half the time, I don't think he intentionally lies, he's just really dumb and self centered. Kamala lies felt more scummy cause she's supposed to be the mature one, Trump is the idiot everyone can laugh at, somehow he gets away with lying. Like he said at one point, he could shoot someone in times square and he'd still have support the next day.

I've checked the statements and they are not by necessity lies, you can call them scummy reframing of your positions but you can have both those positions at the same time.

And you can see the issue here. In order to win like the GOP does I need to put forth a likeable idiot who can say nice lies but who gets a pass because he's too dumb to know otherwise. Just doesn't seem like useful advice to say "try to be the GOP".
