For me he didn't need to speak about Gears 5, playing the game was enough to lower my opinion on his creative decision making. Too many things were such a mess. Hiverbusters was great though, don't know how involved he was with it but I'd guess not very. |
I enjoyed Gears 5 but in hindsight the choice ending is a major mistake and learning that Rod not only essentially pushed it onto the team but also didn't even have a plan for the future in regards to it, confirms to me that the choice ending was a mistake. It seems like Rod expected one choice to easily beat the other one and they would have went with a single canon ending (whichever choice was the most popular) but it seems that backfired because the split is nearly even between the two choices, thus they can't pick a single canon ending without pissing off a huge portion of players, they either have to piss off players or do something that seemingly wasn't even in the plans; create two diverging storylines for Gears 6 and Rod, the man who decided all of this, left the studio, Lmao. So the team is just left picking up the pieces of a decision they didn't want.
