The more Rod speaks about Gears 5, the more my opinion on his creative decision making lowers 
"Team wasn't "thrilled" when he pitched the idea of the choice"
So not only were the team unhappy with the choice idea, Rod didn't even have a plan for what would happen after, then he left the studio, Lol. He has really put them in a shitty position which they seemingly didn't want to be in, and if you're going to make a multi-choice option, then you have to follow up with that but instead it seems like the plan was to make only one canon, therefore pissing off everyone who picked the other choice. Wow, I feel sorry for The Coalition, Lol. No wonder they're doing a prequel first.
This choice idea was 100% a mistake, Rod forced a creative decision on a team that didn't want it, with no plan on how to follow up on it, then he left the studio, essentially a "here's a complication I created now you clean it up, bye" Lol.
