They've made a TON of money with the Switch. They must have vaults full of money at this point. And while Switch did get a ton of games thanks to being a unified system for the first time, there were definitely still franchises that got nothing or got nothing new. There's absolutely no reason why they can't put together a few more dev teams to make sure stuff like DK, Star Fox, Fzero, Kid Icarus, Advance Wars, Excite series, Wave Race, 1080, Punchout, Golden Sun, etc don't get ignored again and we get actual new games in those franchises. Not saying all those games are gonna get made, but I sure hope Nintendo is gonna use a little bit of their massive profits to fund a few more teams so that the number of ignored franchises shrinks next gen.
Nintendo is the most prolific and best game developer on the planet. But it still sucks when a bunch of beloved franchises don't see the light of day for a gen or two.
It'll probably help a bit that they won't be busy porting over a bunch of WiiU games next gen. I don't know how much that sort of thing takes, but it no doubt took up some time. Also the fact that they have NSO library mostly built out now is a plus, as getting the emulators and games ready takes up some time too, hopefully next gen we get GC added to the Expansion Pack, but in general there will be far less dev time spent on bringing old games to the S2/NSO than there was this gen.
