The topic is not even this, I'm trying to be collaborative. This isn't a home console versus home console question but a market leader vs competitor question. So including portables and home consoles is completely legitimate. Why we talking about faults nothing needs to be negative here. I just asked you for a breakdown, provide the console breakdown and let me crunch the numbers for you, that's what I asked for.

Anyhow I'd like to talk about how Nintendo can maintain its leading position.

What are you even on about? I never said it was a home console vs home console question.
You are trying to change the discussion to ignore the stats.

...So I'll just do the work for you.

  • NES @61.91 million consoles sold vs Sega Master System (Includes tectoy) @19.17 Million. - Nintendo Won.

  • SNES @49.1 million +Gameboy @64.39 million (113.9 Million total) vs Sega Genesis @30.75 Million + Sega Gamegear @10.62 Million (41.37 Million total) - Nintendo Won.

  • N64 @32.93 Million+Gameboy Colour @54.3 Million (87.23 Milion total) vs PS1 102.49M PS1. - Nintendo Lost.

  • Gamecube @21.74 Million + Gameboy Advance @81.51 Million (103.25~ Million total) vs Playstation 2 @158~ Million. - Nintendo Lost.

  • Nintendo Wii @101.63 Million + Nintendo DS @154.02 Million (255.63~ Million total) vs Playstation 3 @87.4 Million + Playstation Portable @82 Million (169.4 Million) - Nintendo Won.

  • Nintendo WiiU @13.56 Million Nintendo 3DS @75.94 Million + Nintendo Switch @ 143.49 Million (232.99 Million Total) vs Playstation 4 @117.2 Million + Playstation Vita @16 Million (133.2~ Million total) - Nintendo Won.

  • Switch 2 (TBA) vs PS5 @61.94 Million. - Sony Winning.

This is a better reflection as it's aligned by generation.
As we can see from the years of 1996 (Nintendo 64 launch) until 2006 (Wii Launch) Nintendo was the loser.
Every other period that have been the leader in terms of total hardware units.

No it isn't a better reflection, the best reflection would be by year, and where we have it I used it, where we don't (or I don't have the values), I used the gens.

Anyway this is just not an interesting conversation, I recommend we get on topic.
