That’s probably a major factor. Over-hyping of games way too far in advance. Good marketing at the time, but allows reality to sink in and filters out that impulsive drive.
That’s often how I feel. Many video games I buy on impulse. There’s the budget, the money, and it’s fun to be impulsive when it comes to entertainment. But allowing yourself time to dwell on it allows the time for scrutiny, and to convince yourself you don’t need the product… then be impulsive and fun in another direction (buying a different game).
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
