Sounds a bit like FOMO.

FOMO is fear of missing out which means you have almost 100% chance of buying something day 1 because everyone else is buying it - so its not that.

@OT - Cant say I ever recall such a thing.

Every game I anticipated/got excited for , I got it and enjoyed it - i.e. Final Fantasy XV, Zelda Breath of the Wild, Pokemon games, Smash.

I guess closest to that would be Super Mario Sunshine which I hated it but ended up enjoying it after a few years later and doing 2-3 more playthroughs of it.
