It's partly cos a lot of these Japanese games are skipping the market leader there and only releasing on platforms Japan isn't that interested in.

Having these games on Switch would have hardly made a difference in terms of Japan vs the world. Hell, many of them would have still sold better on Playstation in Japan due to brand association.
