I feel like thats a logical next step.
This gen with the AI upscaleing they get PSSR up to spec, ei. spend a few more years uptimiseing it, and getting it as close to DLSS as possible.
Next gen, we will see Frame Gen used on consoles as well.
With options to run either at 60fps (without frame gen) (for people without 120hz tv's) and then a toggle/auto option for people that have 120hz, that then uses frame gen. The fact that its so loved on pc, makes it a sure thing for next gen imo. Naturally this is for any future Xbox or Playstation 6's. I seriously doubt, Nintendo will get frame generation, this gen (switch 2) or next or one after (nintendo is a few gens behinde when it comes to this sort of thing, and doesn't seem to value it much).

That would have been awesome. Imagine Sony went even lower spec (hardware wise) and then even lower priced hardware wise... but compensated against the series X, by useing something like PSSR. Yeah missed oppertunity.
