To a certain extent I think Nintendo has been looking for a studio like this but has had difficulty; in 2005 Nintendo published Geist by N-Space which had a Mature rating, if Geist was a better game or sold better I wouldn't have been surprised to hear that N-Space was aquired by Nintendo. I didn't realize that game was M, but if it was, then I think Geist is a great example. Sure it was second party, but I remember reading that Miyamoto worked with the dev team on that one, meaning that Nintendo definately had a hand in it. Were Nintendo to make one of their franchises a Mature rated title, my money would be in Kid Icarus, just because it's an old enough franchise that its announcement wouldn't get too many kids excited about it.
"Kid Icarus" as a Mature title name.... now THAT is irony. ;)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
