Long time no see !

Now that almost every FF are on Xbox, wich one would you recommand to a newcomer ?
I hesitated to take the pixel remastered collection...

If you want to play the best ones - FF4, FF6, FF7, FF9 and FF10

If you want to experience the series from its inception - FF1 Pixel Remaster and go forward from there.

No hesitation needed - the pixel remasters are the easiest entries to get into due to the fact that it has the Exp/Gil boosts and the no encounter option - which makes it possible to avoid grinding in the games. All six games have this feature.

I played it using the boosts because I've played all of the older games a dozen times each.

FF1 and FF2 took me 10-12 hours

FF3 and FF4 took me about 12-15 hours

FF5 and FF6 took me about 20-25 hours

As for FF7, it took me 30 hours using its own boost system compared to the original version and PC versions which took me over 60 hours.

You can buy individual titles in the pixel collection.

I'm not gonna pretend I'm a huge fan of the series, but there's always specific titles that always come up whenever it comes to the "best" FF games, such as 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10 come up the most.

What's difficult though as a newcomer to the franchise is that there's literally over 3 decades of mainline games that have gone through every single iteration of gaming technology. Because of that, I would probably want to start with the older games first as any diehard fan will tell you how special those games are.

The ones you mentioned +1

Playing through the first 6 titles with boost is the way to go especially for a newcomer.

The first 6 games are fantastic when you have played any of the FF games and enjoyed them....but it is hard to start with them if you didn't play any FF/JRPG game...yet.

Also completed FFII :)

Disagree, the first 6 games are the easiest and they added so many incentives to the pixel remasters that practically anyone can jump in - with treasure viewing maps, the boost system and the difficulty is toned down compared to the SNES and PS1 versions.

FF1 is simple

FF2 is complex compared to the rest of the first 6 but its really easy to get into because of the boosts

FF3 is easier because of the existence of quick save and boosts

FF4 has always been the easiest of the 6 games

FF5 imo is the 2nd hardest in the first 6 games but boosts make it easy to master jobs

FF6 is the second easiest of the first six games. I finished the Steam mobile remake and the Pixel remaster version on Steam earlier this year. The Switch version is super easy compared to the mobile remake's difficulty and extra content.

And II is considered the bad one of the era lol

Leveling up your stats was so borked and out of balance people found the better way to level up stats was to attack your own party.

Its pretty OP - the boost system makes grinding simple in FF2 to the point where its actually enjoyable and not a chore like the NES, PS1, GBA and PSP versions.
