While conflict in the Levant is old, the Palestinian vs Zionist conflict is new (relatively speaking). There wasn't a conflict between Palestinians and Jewish people before this time, particularly because Palestinians are the descendants of the non-diaspora Jewish and Christian populations that in turn descend from one of the oldest (if not the oldest) known settled people on the planet, dating back thousands of years before civilization to Natufian culture, who settled the region starting 15,000 years ago.

In the simplest terms, the modern conflict began with Zionist colonization between the 1920s and the late 1940s (largely pushed in by the late British Empire/Commonwealth), and is the product of modern nationalism and population over-saturation rather than an ancient conflict.

While both are horrific conflicts, the invasion of Ukraine is a larger, more destructive one, and has higher stakes. The casualties of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are in the tens of thousands, while the Ukrainian Russian conflict has casualties now exceeding a million. The stakes of the Ukrainian conflict involve the Kremlin and Western allies of Ukraine, who wield thousands of nuclear and thermonuclear weapons, capable of destroying civilization, and ending most life on the planet. Additionally, the conflict isn't in some distant land, it's within Eastern Europe.

As a note of interest. The Ukrainian conflict is actually much older than the Palestinian conflict. If you ask Ukrainians, many will point out that their struggle against Moscow dates back hundreds of years, to the era of Peter the Great, who extended influence over the region, and Catherine the Great who conquered most of it. So, some scoff at the idea that certain American broadcasters declare that the Ukrainian conflict was created by the US government (often thanking Obama), when the conflict pre-dates the existence of the US.

Both are horrific conflicts, and both desperately need resolution without surrender by the civilians who have been affected. Additionally, war criminals must be prosecuted. And this includes both Vladimir Putin and Netanyahu, who have orchestrated and applauded terrorist acts. It's a shame the powers that be tolerate one and fears to prosecute the other. As long as Israel is an apartheid state, a two state solution is the best of the existing bad options. Russia-Ukraine is far more simple and has one great option: The Kremlin must remove itself from Ukrainian lands and remove its attempts at propaganda influence, or be removed by force,
