I'm not sure if Helldivers 2 fits the description (it is not a big narrative game, nor is it a 1st party after all), but it still got all of the controversy. The massive consumer revolt due to Sony's accounts, and afterwards, complains about the community managers/mods and the gameplay balances going into different directions from what the userbase wants.

Oh bloody hell, indeed. Like months after release, easily the most deserved controversy though. Ya can't lock whole regions out retroactively and not expect to cause resentment even in the regions still active. It's mistakes like this that are causing people to be so quick to controversy.
