I think Putin is now trying the German's tactic at Verdun. For those who don't know, the aim of the battle of Verdun in 1916 wasn't to conquer Verdun (though it would have been a nice bonus), but to "bleed out" the Entente's forces (If we leave out the colonies, Germany's population at the time was larger than the one of the UK and France combined). Turned out however, that the battle also drained their own forces, which resulted in their collapse 2 years later during the 100 days offensive. And considering how the signup bonuses and wages for soldiers keep rising fast, I think Russia will share Germany's fate with their own tactic... |
exactly and this plan by russia failing to a greater degree every month it seems. That post by BFR the last page or page before that was very informative, which showed how the average casualty rates that the russians suffer has grown by leaps since the start of this war. Now it's just a shit-show on their part and they look very bad. If it keeps going this way, the Russian battalions will collapse and ukraine will use its newfound skills in maneauver warfare to push far ahead.
I remember last year how all of the articles were saying that russia would have the upper hand in a war of attrition........ perhaps at first, but it just takes time for the good guys to come ahead sometimes
