Considering the point of a corporation is to make a profit and not gain market share, I highly doubt Sony will drop the price of the PS3. Sony is hoping the PS3 turns a profit for the fiscal year that ends in 2009. If they drop the price to increase market share but lose more money in the process, what is the impetus for them to do that? It would be the quintessential pyrrhic victory.
