Interesting. Would they have to be tried and true Nintendo IP for you? Or would you stick with Nintendo if they tried something new, like the first party devs actually not working on old IP to create new IP. Which would you prefer? Would ya give up on them if they stopped producing Nintendo IP for new stuff?

Most Nintendo IP appeals to me, but not every Nintendo IP does, or appeals to me on the same level to make me buy a console. But the most important is the games itself.

I see that Nintendo is able to re-invent their existing IP into new gaming experiences most of the time. Sometimes it hits for me, sometimes it does not.

Example: I am a HUGE Zelda fan, but the touch control Zelda's on the DS did not appeal to me. So I did not buy these games and I also did not end up buying the system in the end. The more traditional controlled Zelda games on the 3DS though did appeal to me, so I bought that system.

In the end I would look at new IP in the same way. I would buy, if it's appealing to my taste. Let's say if I compare two newer-ish IP like Splatoon and Endless Ocean. I would buy a new Nintendo Console for Splatoon, but not for Endless Ocean.

If Nintendo for some reason would not make games in existing franchises anymore, or would simply limit the number to work on something else, I would still assess it on game-level to make my purchasing decision. But I do confess that Nintendo first party games are the number one reason to buy a Nintendo console or not.

They should have fought to keep stuff like Octopath Traveller exclusive. That's what I wanna see, them creating IP like that. Can you imagine how amazing an RPG would be from the team that made Tears of the Kingdom? It'd give Baldurs Gate 3 a run for its money.

Same as you though, it really depends on if Fire Emblem is doing well. Three houses is the main reason I bought a Switch and wasn't disappointed but if they created a new strategy RPG that looked just as good I might be in for that too. However I am a bit over Nintendo IP, sick of the same aesthetics even in reinvention, as great as Mario Galaxy was I'd have loved to see someone but Mario in there. Same for Oddessy. I'd just live to see them reinvent but with different aesthetics.
