If Nintendo for some reason would not make games in existing franchises anymore, or would simply limit the number to work on something else, I would still assess it on game-level to make my purchasing decision. But I do confess that Nintendo first party games are the number one reason to buy a Nintendo console or not. |
They should have fought to keep stuff like Octopath Traveller exclusive. That's what I wanna see, them creating IP like that. Can you imagine how amazing an RPG would be from the team that made Tears of the Kingdom? It'd give Baldurs Gate 3 a run for its money.
Same as you though, it really depends on if Fire Emblem is doing well. Three houses is the main reason I bought a Switch and wasn't disappointed but if they created a new strategy RPG that looked just as good I might be in for that too. However I am a bit over Nintendo IP, sick of the same aesthetics even in reinvention, as great as Mario Galaxy was I'd have loved to see someone but Mario in there. Same for Oddessy. I'd just live to see them reinvent but with different aesthetics.
