I've already played games that my mind percieved as being real. Where i literally forgot i was playing a game and i took it as something real. A good example was experiencing death stranding. To me that was as real as it could get, where i felt i was there. Now you can keep improving visuals , but nothing can make me feel any greater than what i experienced. If i already felt like it was real life, you can't convince the brain any further. Other games that did it were moments in tlou2, games like returnal. That's why i say we need other things to make games greater going forward, such as massive scale leap and detail, draw distances, amound of objects per frame, visual effects fidelity like lighting and shadows, material quality, whether liquid , solid and gas. Animation and physics taking up a notch. This is what wil make visuals greater. |
Oh, I know the trick of the mind your talking about, I got it back in the day with Uncharted 2's night scenes and RDR1. But if your looking with a critical eye, we aren't at photo Real.
And yes, I totally agree. Effects and stuff on screen is what they should be chasing like with Ghost of Tsushima.
