Maybe it's just a matter of demographic changes, Europe is a market of older people less inclined to upgrade and satisfied with playing games in their older consoles 

It's also true for the Switch. Europe wasn't Nintendo's Forte even before, but now it just barely outsells Japan.

My guess is that Europe is more and more turning back to computer gaming like they did in the 80's and 90's, helped by the fact that most exclusives are also coming out on PC now.
