Trump falsely claims VP Harris ‘refusing to meet’ Netanyahu
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris is “refusing to meet” with Benjamin Netanyahu during the Israeli prime minister’s visit to Washington, DC this week.
Harris, the likely Democratic presidential nominee after Joe Biden dropped out of the race, is scheduled to meet Netanyahu at the White House on Thursday.
Harris’s team has said she will not be attending Netanyahu’s controversial joint address to Congress today due to a previously scheduled campaign event in Indianapolis. It’s unclear if this is what Trump was referring to.
Trump, who made his comments during a telephone interview with Newsmax, also reiterated that no Jewish American should support the Democrats over their Israel stance.
“It’s amazing actually, that… any Jewish person or any person that believes in Israel and loves Israel can even think about voting for a Democrat,” he said.
More details about Trump-Netanyahu meeting
We’ve learned more about the meeting between the two officials, which is slated to take place at Trump’s resort in Florida on Friday.
“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” the former US president said in a post on Truth Social, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
Netanyahu had requested the in-person meeting with Trump during his visit this week to Washington, DC, Politico said yesterday.
Netanyahu and Trump were mostly in sync ideologically and on policy during Trump’s 2017-2021 term. The US moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at that time, a long-held conservative goal.
Trump has criticised Netanyahu for the security failures around the deadly October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and has said Israel must quickly secure the release of captives taken and finish the war in Gaza.
In his social media post, Trump praised Netanyahu’s role in the Abraham Accords, landmark US-brokered agreements signed during the Trump years that normalised bilateral relations between Israel and both Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
“During my first term, we had Peace and Stability in the Region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords – And we will have it again,” Trump said in his Truth Social post.
The Abraham accords played a big part in making Oct 7 happen. "The Abraham Accords, launched under President Donald Trump, effectively excised the issue of Palestinian self-determination as a condition for normalization, a major victory for Israel."
The was no peace and stability in the region either 2017-2021
- 2018 Border protests, 190 killed 28 thousand wounded
- 2019 Operation Black Belt
- 2021 Completion of Gaza-Israel barrier, clashes over Al Aqsa Mosque
Also the Iraqi Insurgency started in 2017 and is still ongoing.
Trump is nothing but a big wind bag full of lies.
