Trump's rewriting his RNC speech, probably to remove all the toxic vitriol and try to paint himself as a "unity" candidate, it's a smart play but we'll see how long it lasts, it's clear he's bored as shit whenever he tries to speak like this and his "charisma" largely comes from attacking other candidates nonstop, plus with all the other loons at the RNC.

(...)

Trump will say the things that he thinks the people want to hear, so the unity phase will be shortlived. Once it dawns on him that he is not credible in the least when talking about unity, he will cater to his usual base again because he can't afford losing them.

Still four months until the election, so this assassination attempt's effect on potential voters will have mostly vaporized come November. This remains a contest between two candidates that have had an entire tenure as POTUS, so it's doubtful that any single event can change much. The biggest deal that I can think of would be the democrats simplifying the playbook and picking one specific point of Project 2025 for the attack. What is it?

Well, when John Oliver interviewed Snowden, he showed the whistleblower a video where it was totally apparent that the American population had very little interest in the whole deal until Oliver's crew drew the attention to dick pics. So Project 2025's most vulnerable part is clearly the intention to ban and criminalize pornography.

Yeah, I'm questioning a little how much this will even affect things now, in todays world we live in a constant blast of news, the pace we consume major events and then move on is crazy (and probably unhealthy), it's one thing after another, people just take it in and move straight onto the next, even with the most horrific bits of news, I'm looking around and the most I'm seeing over the past few days is fucking memes, people mocking him or not really giving a shit or talking about it anymore, Lol.

You've got thousands of memes, a dozen insane conspiracy theories sucking the air out the room, they can't pick a single attack angle, the fact he was a registered Republican basically muted the Republican response almost immediately, if Republicans mention Democrats, there's a whole history of MAGAs own violent rhetoric and January 6th. I feel like people are already largely moving on, essentially not giving a shit, or thinking he had it coming. I'm not sure how the average American feels but so far, I feel like the response has been weak.

Oh and we're focused on how much the secret service failed too. It feels like "oh just another shooter in America" kind of response. Reminds me of the reaction to Biden's debate being doomsday but polls barely changed, now nobody is talking about the debate anymore, or like when Abe was shot in Japan, the act was shocking but most the world moved on quickly, didn't give a shit about his death, in fact the shooter got what he wanted and Abe was seen even worse, Lol.

If he tries to milk this, there is a legit chance it could annoy people, Americans largely seem to hate both candidates but I don't know how much Trump can milk his ear being grazed (only to immediately go golfing, Lol) and people may start getting sick of hearing about it, especially when America is so desensitised to shootings now, I know he's not my countries leader but at least in the UK, feels like nobody I know gives a shit either and overall I'm not seeing much sympathy for him outside of his usual fanbase.
