I think now, no matter the reasons or blame, no matter what is true or isn't, I think I lean towards Biden should step down from re-election...He should continue the Presidency for the final 6 months but he should refuse re-election and endorse Harris...This age thing is just too much now, every single thing he does and says is under a massive microscope and every single gaffe big or small is further "evidence" of his cognitive decline, amplified tenfold while we ignore the insane shit Trump is saying/doing.

As a European, I'm mentally preparing for a Trump win and saying Europe better have plans for moving on from America, I won't give up all hope but I think Europe needs to start preparing for a future without America's support. I think whether it's Biden or Harris, it's going to be a tough win now, it's basically what you think the better poison is to fight, on the one hand, Biden's old stuff will never leave him now, every gaffe will be exploded and he will also have genuine cognitive decline moments too, these things are hard for Biden to fight off.

I've not much concern about Harris being a woman, Hillary did win the popular vote and ultimately didn't lose by much and she had like 10-20 years of media smears against her and the whole stupid "but her emails" bullshit. The thing that will be thrown against them by Republicans and the media will be that the Democrats are in chaos/disarray but I think now that would be an easier fight than the old stuff, Harris is young, vibrant, a much better debater nowadays, I think she could battle that shit off and also slam Project 2025 onto Trump.

Democrats absolutely need to avoid an open convention, it would be a fucking disaster, honestly though I think everyone has handled this fucking awful, from Biden's campaign team, to the media, to Democrat officials. They should have dealt with this shit privately and Biden should have maintained the presidency until January 2025 but say that his doctors have advised him that he physically and mentally couldn't cope for another 4 years, then Biden endorses Harris for the nomination and then Democrats shut the fuck up and all get behind her.

My fear is Biden still has a lot of fans, particularly with an old demographic and now instead of it looking like Biden is stepping down on advice from his doctors and going off into the sunset, it now looks like he has been forced out and that will upset some people, it does look like the Dems are a bit in chaos, that will be the new narrative, it should have been "I'm old as shit, I can't do this for another 4 years and so Harris is the nominee now" but once again the Democrats look like they aren't united.

If Dems do an open convention then they're fucking dumb as shit, it needs to be Biden or Harris and any Democrat demanding Biden step down better be prepared to support Harris. I don't actually think at this moment that Harris would beat Trump but I don't know if Biden can either but I do believe that Harris has a better chance than any other Democrat in 4 months. Biden can focus on his final days as president which would allow Harris to focus exclusively on campaigning instead of Biden stepping down now and shackling Harris with both the presidency and campaigning.

Harris/Cooper or Harris/Shapiro or Harris/Beshear.
