I'd go with 1440p. I had suggestion that was solid but it's not longer available on Amazon. So I'd suggest checking out RTINGS.com. They have really detailed reviews of TV's and Monitors. I always go there before buying my displays.With a $500 budget you should have plenty of good options. I know you said space was limited but you can probably get really cheapbar that will fit in limited space that'll sound better than built in speakers. No matter the price, built in monitor speakers don't really sound that good in my experience.
