Correlation doesn't Equal causation. The demand was already there and there were supply shortages for everyone including Nintendo. If anything, if not for the pandemic Nintendo would already have this goofy sales record.

Anyway at the end of the day the most important metric is profit and Nintendo has its arms elbow-deep in gold. I just hope they use it to finally converge towards a full- audience solution, winning  back all the segments they lost from Sony as of the N64 and raking in any new segments Sony have added in since then.
