Capcom released an update after being review bombed on Steam:

Hardly an update lol. I'll wait to dive into the game after the first few patches that directly address performance.

People online were comparing the 4090 and 3080 still getting 30fps performance without thinking there's major CPU bottlenecks because of the way Capcom created the open world.

It's nearly akin to Strategy games like Total War that are so CPU intensive because the entire world is being rendered with a shit ton of NPC's throughout the entire world rather than just rendering a separate area that the player is focused on with a limited number of NPCs that are dedicated to that area.

It's what allows you to be on a Griffin forever and yet you still see all the NPC's beneath you throughout the world with no loading screens for new areas.

Plus side is, as more powerful CPUs release, the game will only run better with time

Yeah, it's a pretty poor update. It's nice that they are trying to fix the bugs and improve the performance, but the fact the game was released in this state to begin with is a shame. No mention of removing Denuvo anti-tamper, something that will make modding the game very difficult, because Capcom doesn't want modders fixing their outdated design decisions they are using to sell the microtransactions.

Saying that you can earn some of the microtransaction items in-game doesn't help much, for starters they are likely to be very slow to unlock in-game, but more importantly there are apparently 21 microtransaction items and only 9 of them are on that list of items that can be unlocked in-game, meaning that nearly 2/3rds are microtransaction only. Perhaps the most egregious of those microtransaction items is the camping kit item; Dragon's Dogma 2 is a game where the more you fight, the smaller your maximum health and MP bars get until you rest, and if you want to rest you have to either go to an Inn or buy a camping kit. Problem is, all of the in-game camping kits are very heavy, leaving you with vary little carrying capacity for loot. The MTX camping kit item meanwhile permanently unlocks a significantly lighter camping kit for purchase from the game's vendors. So basically Capcom is trying to heavily inconvenience players into buying a camping kit microtransaction.

I'm still kind of baffled by how CPU intensive it is. I get that NPC's are rendered at all times and that there is seamless flight with no loading screens, but I'm pretty sure Hogwarts Legacy had all of that plus ray tracing and you could still hit 1080p 60 fps on a midrange PC, whereas people are saying they are struggling to hit 60 fps with both a high end CPU and high end GPU in there system while using DLSS.
