It is objectively eighth gen, but a lot of people want to classify it ninth... for some odd reason. Personally, I don't understand it, because that means what, Nintendo released two eighth gen consoles? lol. It makes no sense. A gen is simply a successor. It has nothing to do with power/tech etc.
