And I hear Sony has been doing some pretty sizeable cuts on PS5 in Europe (literally their strongest territory btw). It's not like people are asking for you to cut the price of a console in half or something and both have already shown the willingness to cut prices by significant amounts. Microsoft wasn’t making a profit before the price cuts, they sure as shit ain’t making it with. Sony is likely making a profit on PS5 hardware so likely doesn’t want to dip to breaking even or even losing money. 

Yeah but hasn't hardware traditionally been sold at a loss or a small profit? The real money has always been in software and peripherals for the console. Price cuts have been a normal thing for consoles up until this generation.
