A big part of it is also Rock's fragile ego.

The man has been on a bad losing streak lately.
- Black Adam flopped and basically killed the DCEU.
- Young Rock got cancelled.
- The XFL was forced to merge w/ the USFL in order to last longer than one season.

For a guy who, for decades, was used to feeling like he could do no wrong and that everything he touches turns to gold, this string of Ls has gotta hit him right where it hurts. Now in order to get back on track, he has to go back to the one place he feels he will NEVER fail at w/ the people and fanbase he believes will always have his back...
...Only he did the ONE thing to severely piss off and alienate that fanbase, which was sabotage their new Chosen One in order to have one more moment of glory... A page straight out of Hulk Hogan's playbook. Terry would be proud.

Maybe this will all turn out to be one giant swerve and we still end up w/ Cody beating Roman at Mania to get his crowning moment. I sincerely HOPE that's the case, but for the first time in the Triple H era, I'm not holding my breath. This feels like it was a decision made over Triple H's head. This feels like something Vince would've done, only w/ Dwayne instead.

For someone who grew up in the business w/ his father, grandfather, and being a part of the Anoa'i family, and seeing/knowing the blood, sweat, tears, and lives his relatives gave to the business, he should've known better than to sabotage and humiliate the next white hot Babyface, not to mention the rest of the roster, who have given their own blood, sweat, tears, and lives for the future of this business, just to protect his massive, fragile ego.

People's Champion, my ass.
