All this talk of sales does make me want to point out we're assume that 3rd parties don't have a responsibility to make products that sell on successful platforms.

If there is a successful platform, shouldn't they be a part of it and figure out how to make it work for them?

You'd normally expect them to do so, yes. But what if that process turns out to be such a deviation from what kind of game(s) they would develop normally, that they basically have to turn them into exclusives or games that dont really appeal to the audiances of the other systems?

Then you run into the very same problem once again, where you have to compare two (or more) alternative investments. And thus far, reality suggests, that this comparison seems to turn out negative for the switch in almost all cases.

Funny side note by the way:

MH Rise seems to sell ~ 5,5 to 8,9% better per year and system compared to MH World thus far launch alligned.

Spoiler!

Formula = sales for the first 2,5 years divided by [ 2,5 year times system equivalents ]

since MHW launched for ps/xb/pc at the same time, system equivalents is 3

for Rise it is 2,42 -> sum( for each system | calculate ( # of days the title is available on this system / # of days the title is available on any system ) )
