I don't deny it's important, but everything you just said made it sound really unfun to me.  I don't find most 3D action games to be fun.  It would be easier to tell you the ones that I don't like than the ones I do.  But there are tons of 2D action games that I find fun.  So, when a person says how influential Ocarina is to 3D action games, I can only assume it is one of the main games responsible for ruining everything.  People say the same thing about Mario 64, and I do not like that game at all.

I would like to play Ocarina at some point to see what the fuss is all about, but I'm not terribly motivated to do it.  I'm much more likely to play Resident Evil 4 in the coming year than Ocarina.

I wouldn’t really call Ocarina of Time an “action” game. I mean sure there’s action, but it’s an adventure game first. I’d say RE4 is more action than OoT.

It’s also not so strange to never have played it, I myself also haven’t played plenty of games that are considered all-time greats, like Final Fantasy VII (or any FF game actually), if we’re sticking the games relevant in this thread. Obviously I’d highly recommend OoT to anyone, but I’m super biased so take that as you will lol.

As a side-note, to reply to some of the other previous posts; I basically always voted for my favourite, because ‘favourite’ to me is synonymous to ‘the best’. A game is a favourite because it’s the one I had most fun with, or kept coming back to the most. And if that happens, it was ‘the best’ of a bunch because how can something I don’t like be better? It’s of course subjective, but I don’t like something for a certain reason. Having fun is all I care about because that’s the only reason I would play a video game. Otherwise there’s no point, and so all other aspects are in reality always trivial to me, meaning the best game is the game I had the most fun with and as such is also my favourite.
