I still remember starting this up for the first time, I was sick, it was just cozy playing something while in bed, with the joycons under the blanket. I was leaving on a long car trip with the family just a couple days later, and little did I know, this little indie game would last me the entire trip and then some. Dozens of hours came and went as I got sucked deeper and deeper into the world of Hallownest, each new discovery bringing with it a sense of awe, tension, wonder, fear. Everything was a surprise, and with each new surprise, this world only became richer and more interesting, each hint of lore piecing together the puzzle of what this kingdom is and was, each little bit of this game making me more and more invested in it, even if I was already absorbed from the very beginning.
Of course, it's been many years since then, and well... in those years, I've only gone and replayed this many times, because it's just so amazing, and it never gets old. No matter how many times you've gone through every little corner of Hallownest, it has a way of always making you feel like there's more just around the corner, there's still mysteries you've yet to discover, or maybe it's just the air of mystery this game creates. Just how a tiny team of three or so people managed to create an experience this incredible, this larger-than-life feeling, is honestly beyond me.
